Personal History and Background
Gibran was born on April 19, 1980 in Michigan, United States, and comes from a Lebanese-American heritage. His mother immigrated to the US during the Lebanese civil war of the 1970s. His father is 3rd generation Lebanese-American and was also born and raised in Michigan. Gibran is fluent in Arabic and English and hopes to one day learn French, Italian, and Spanish (wish him luck). He is the oldest of six siblings who are in business together, operating their innovations and ventures from their headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. Gibran is a lifelong observer, participant, and student of human nature, philosophy, Christianity, the financial markets, and the economy.
Gibran’s greatest interest and hobby is music. He plays both the alto saxophone and the ‘oud, which is an Arabic instrument (also called the lute). He enjoys Lebanese folklore, classical Egyptian music, Broadway musicals, and jazz. Gibran also enjoys gourmet cooking. He claims to make the best gourmet pizza in the world (flat bread, deep dish, pesto, and other varieties), as well as Thai food, and French Fries. Gibran is a self-proclaimed chocolate addict, and recently became an active Facebook user. He is still trying to feel his way around all the acronyms of text messaging and the internet age (lol), and yearns for a return to the more eloquent style of human language that was customary in days gone by.
Gibran enjoys traveling for pleasure and business. His destinations have included Italy, Dubai, Egypt, and Israel/Palestine, as well as dozens of states across the US.
Professional Accomplishments
Gibran is an old-timer in the world of entrepreneurs. At 16 years old he entered law school, and at 20 years old, he started his own mortgage planning firm. The business quickly became one of the highest volume private mortgage companies in Michigan, with additional licenses in Illinois, Florida, and Massachusetts. In 2005, Gibran became the Chairman and CEO of the CMPS® Institute, a national organization that has since certified over 5,000 mortgage bankers and brokers. Through his involvement in CMPS, Gibran empowers mortgage and financial professionals with knowledge and resources to better serve clients and increase their competitive advantage.
Gibran is also the visionary behind Published Daily, a private label online magazine, newsletter, and marketing service. With his creative juices constantly flowing, Gibran works closely with the Published Daily team to brainstorm, provide suggestions and keep his brainchild of PD on the cutting edge. Gibran also works with writers and affiliates of Published Daily. Gibran writes for Published Daily in the areas of Personal Finance and Inspiration.
Gibran has served as a board member for the Financial Planning Association of Michigan, and is very active in the financial planning community. He frequently teaches continuing education seminars for CPAs, Certified Financial Planners, attorneys, real estate brokers, and mortgage lending professionals.
